  • West Coast Stuttering Center

    West Coast Stuttering Center

I know first-hand about the difficulties of having a stutter. When I founded West Coast Stuttering Center, I had a singular mission: to help adolescents and adults who stutter experience life-changing transformations that go beyond the stutter itself. I offer “stuttering therapy” rather than “speech therapy for stuttering” because it’s not just about speech—it’s about embracing a whole new way of living.

As a licensed Speech and Language Pathologist and certified Clinical Emotional Freedom Techniques practitioner, I bring a skillful and personalized approach to stuttering therapy. I craft a blend of counseling, coaching, speech therapy and cutting-edge evidence supported energy psychology techniques to guide you on your path to freedom and empowerment.

Stuttering therapy goes beyond focusing just on stuttering. I will also help you address other areas that may be holding you back, such as perfectionism, fear of rejection, social anxiety, and the impact of small ‘t’ traumas that many stutterers experience.

Through this more holistic lens, I transcend the boundaries of conventional speech therapy for stuttering so that you can truly blossom and flourish.

At West Coast Stuttering Center, I am passionate about guiding you on your journey to a more confident, liberated you.

  • Eileen Savelkoul

Eileen Savelkoul, PhD, CCC-SLP has provided fluency and communication therapy for over 20 years in ND. She has taught and supervised students in training, but her focus is to work closely with clients and/or their support networks to provide individually tailored therapy for fluency, and/or any related communication need.

My undergraduate work was completed at Moorhead State University, located just across the Red River that divides Fargo, ND from Moorhead, MN. From there, I was very fortunate and richly blessed to attend Texas Christian University, where I received a Master's degree. It was there that my love of conducting stuttering therapy was really formed under Dr. Jennifer Watson. I returned to ND and married. From there, I went to the University of Illinois and worked with Dr. Ehud Yairi, and then attended the University of Iowa, where I eventually obtained a PhD under the guidance of Dr. Tricia Zebrowski. After leaving Iowa, I returned to ND to be with my husband full time and become a mother to a child who eventually was diagnosed with a developmental disability in the autism spectrum. My life's plan changed a lot, but I remained committed to trying to provide help and support to clients seeking support and/or therapy. Thus, I worked part-time over many years at Minot State University, where I taught several courses, but my greatest love was to teach about fluency disorders and counseling. I also supervised students learning how to diagnose and treat fluency disorders. Though I am nearing the end of my professional work, I still love working with people who stutter.
